December 10th – Human Rights Day

WHRDSixty four years ago, the United Nations declared December 10th to be “Human Rights Day” to bring attention to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights as a common standard for people around the world.

Here in Alberta, our Premier recently stated that “rights are not absolute.” As trade unionists – we couldn’t disagree more.

We believe all people deserve to live in dignity free from discrimination, poverty, and fear.  Everyone deserves respect and an opportunity to live life to its fullest.

These are the values CUPE has always fought for, and we will continue this struggle, always.
