Roberts: Broken promises from new Premier

FORT MCMURRAY – In her address to CUPE Alberta’s 2013 convention, President Marle Roberts took on the broken promises and cuts to public services of last week’s provincial budget.

“In last year’s election campaign, the Conservatives published a written platform that promised their 2013 budget would be balanced, wouldn’t raise taxes, and wouldn’t cut services, said Roberts. “So I guess none out of three ain’t bad.”

Roberts pointed to cuts to post secondary education, K-12 education, and seniors care as among promises broken by Premier Alison Redford.

“In the election campaign, the Conservative party told us to vote for them to prevent Wildrose from winning, because the Wildrose would cut public services to the bone,” said Roberts. “And you know what? The Conservatives are cutting services to the bone.”
