Canadian Blood Services join CUPE

Calgary (July 18, 2014) – Employees from Canadian Blood Services has successfully voted to join the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE), Local 1846. CUPE Local 1846 currently represents Canadian Blood Services employees in both Calgary and Lethbridge, and with this vote, it will now include Edmonton and Red Deer.  

CUPE Alberta President Marle Roberts said, “It is so wonderful to see Canadian Blood Services employees from across the province joining CUPE.”

“As a unionized group, employees will now be able use their collective voice to improve working conditions in the health care field,” said Roberts.

CUPE Local 1846 will now focus its efforts on negotiating a new collective agreement.
