Alberta school bus driver killed on his first shift

canarybirdGRIMSHAW – CUPE 4946 member Dellis Partridge was killed at work on Monday, February 2nd.

Partridge, 60, had worked as a bus driver previously. He had just been hired as a casual driver and was on his first shift with the Peace River School Division when his bus was involved in a head on collision with a semi truck near Grimshaw.

Fourteen students were passengers on the bus, all sustained injuries, as did the truck driver. There were no other fatalities.

CUPE Alberta President Marle Roberts expressed her sorrow and best condolences to Mr. Partridge’s family.

“It is always a tragedy when someone dies on the job,” said Roberts. “In this case, it impacts Mr. Partridge’s family, other staff and students in the school division, and all members of the community.”

“On behalf of CUPE Alberta, I want Mr. Partridge’s family to know they are in our thoughts and prayers.”
