LETHBRIDGE – While civic workers were held to 2% wage increases, Lethbridge’s Mayor and Council voted themselves raises of up to 20%. That has CUPE Local 70 President Chris Ingold crying foul.

FORT MCMURRAY – A three year, first contract that raises wages by over 18%, improves vacation, holiday pay and other benefits is leaving eleven employees of Marshall House happy they joined a union.

Labour Board rules in Union’s favour regarding Calgary Zoo employees
CALGARY – CUPE Local 37 has won its Labour Relations Board case against the Calgary Zoo Society after successfully arguing that the society and the City constitute a ‘common employer.’ The Zoo Society argued that after 42 years of using city employees who belong to CUPE 37 at the Zoo, the society should be able to terminate that arrangement and opt out of the collect agreement provisions. … Read more…
