Media Advisory: CUPE Alberta Convention to take place in Lethbridge

EDMONTON – The annual convention of the Alberta Division of the Canadian Union of Public Employees will take place at the Lethbridge Lodge Hotel in Lethbridge Alberta, this week, March 25th to 27th.

About 200 delegates are expected to represent 30,000 CUPE members in the province.  CUPE represents employees of municipalities, school boards, long term care facilities, ambulance and hospital workers, and other mostly public sector employers.

Hot topics for discussion this year will include recent Labour Board decisions affecting health care employees, as well as bargaining in the K-12 school system, and the shortage of long term care nursing home spaces.
