CUPE Alberta to hold 50th Anniversary Convention in Fort McMurray

 

EDMONTON – The Alberta Division of the Canadian Union of Public Employees will hold its 50th Anniversary Convention in Fort McMurray March 20-22 at the Sawridge Hotel.

The convention will address a number of issues of concern to the 35,000 CUPE members in the province, including: proposed cuts to the Local Authorities Pension Plan, reductions in public sector wages and benefits, cuts to the funding of education and health care, upcoming municipal and school district elections, and the poor quality of long term care in Alberta.

In addition, delegates will celebrate CUPE’s 50th Anniversary in the province.
