CUPE Alberta to hold 50th Anniversary Convention in Fort McMurray

EDMONTON – The Alberta Division of the Canadian Union of Public Employees will hold its 50th Anniversary Convention in Fort McMurray March 20-22 at the Sawridge Inn & Conference Centre. The convention will address a number of issues of concern to the 35,000 CUPE members in the province, including: proposed changes to the Local Authorities Pension Plan, provincial budget cuts to education, seniors’ care and post secondary institutions, and the poor quality of long term care in Alberta.

In addition, delegates will celebrate CUPE’s 50th Anniversary in the province.
