Women’s shelter employees vote 100% to form union

BLACK DIAMOND – Every single employee of a local women’s shelter voted in favour of joining the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE).  The employees work for Region 3 Family Care Society.

CUPE Alberta President Marle Roberts said the employees came to the union to address concerns about wages and respect in the workplace.

“CUPE is an ideal union to represent these employees,” said Roberts. “As the largest union in Canada, we have the resources, expertise, and finances to help this group achieve their goals.”

CUPE represents employees of four other women’s shelters in Alberta.
